TERM LIMITS
Along with most of you, I voted for term limits. Twice. Then the Mayor and the City Council came along with a different idea - deny the people of New York their voice and change the law against their will. Now there is something we can do about it. We can enforce term limits ourselves by simply voting the incumbents out. Jim Molinaro has been in Borough Hall for twenty years and has done little to solve our problems. He has had his chance. It's time for a new perspective and new leadership. Let's show our government that it is not okay to ignore our will. On November 3rd, we have the power to tell Jim Molinaro, "You're fired!" Vote Luisi for BP.

BROOKFIELD LANDFILL
For 30 years, hundreds of thousands of gallons of hazardous waste, including DDT, have been seeping into the ground here at the Brookfield Land Fill, contaminating our groundwater. After millions of dollars in studies and 17 years of investigations, nothing has been done. Now, the DEC says they will give us $100 million to clean it up, but it will take another 7 years to clean it up and turn it into a park. We've heard that before. Thirty years later, the chemicals are still here.

NORTH AND WEST SHORE RAIL LINES
Study after study has proven that the North and West Shore Rail lines would have a real impact on alleviating traffic congestion on Staten Island. We've been too busy talking about stop signs and right turn lanes for twenty years. And there is still nothing on these tracks.

STAPLETON HOMEPORT
Since the 1990s, this prime piece of waterfront real estate has been sitting virtually vacant, losing millions of dollars in tax revenue for Staten Island. The city, along with the support of our borough president, killed a fully functioning movie studio and planned resort that would have created thousands of new jobs and revitalized the Stapleton area, and said they had a better plan of building expensive high-income housing. That was in 2002. It's still vacant.

SOUTH SHORE FERRY
South Shore residents trying to get to work in Manhattan have the longest commute in the country. They've been hearing about the proposed South Shore ferry for a while now. The studies are done. The feasibility is there. We know that this ferry would cut the commute time in half for the 100,000 residents who live south of Richmond Avenue. And we know that this ferry would be the biggest step in alleviating traffic congestion through all of Staten Island yet. And yet, the money isn't there, and construction hasn't begun.

PRODUCTIVITY AND ACCOUNTABILITY
It took seven years to move a fire hydrant. Seven years. Jim Molinaro has joked about it, as well he should, because it is ridiculous. But what he won't tell you is that, as Borough President, it is he who should be held accountable for taking seven years to move a fire hydrant. After all, he is the head of government in the borough, and this fire hydrant is one of many examples of the inefficiency that has plagued Borough Hall since Jim Molinaro became Borough President.
